The massive backlog in cases the CPS are facing will cause fatigue in their workers according to Max Hill QC, the director of public prosecutions.

The Lord chancellor has announced that there will be no cap on judicial sitting days and Crown courts have been advised to work at ‘full throttle’. CPS workers are dealing with an uplift of between 20% and 80% of live cases compared to pre-pandemic levels.

Max Hill QC has argued that while something must be done about the backlog of cases the Ministry of Justice must look after ‘their own’.
