Three current and former partners of the London firm Dechert’s are to a face a joint trial in October 2022.

The case involves ‘the most serious allegations ever levelled against English solicitors in civil proceedings’. Karam Al Sadeq and Jihad Quzmar, two Jordanian lawyers currently imprisoned in UAE have made the claims against Neil Gerrard, Caroline Black and, David Hughes.

They are accused of being involved in their initial arrest and the illegal abduction from their homes. There is also alleged complicity in the torture of the prisoners, inhumane and degrading treatment and, no access to legal representation, which resulted in an alleged false confession on the part of Mr Al Sadeq.
