A father from Gateshead has been sentenced to four months in prison for contempt of court in a hearing at the High court sitting at Newcastle on Monday 11th October.

Ian Malone had breached the child arrangements order made in June by the Family Court when he abducted the child during his contact with him leading to a nationwide manhunt which ended with both Malone and his son being found safe and well in Scotland seven days later.

Malone admitted to planning the abduction and admitted it was a ‘huge mistake’. Mrs Justice Arbuthnot stated an immediate custodial sentence was the ‘only appropriate sentence’.
