A Combination of the stamp duty holiday and the lack of homes for sale has led to house prices soaring to a record high.

There was an 8% increase in house prices in the UK to an average house price of £258,204 in April of this year according to the lender Halifax. This was the highest annual growth in average house price since 2016.

Halifax say this is due to the pandemic fueling homeowners search for their ‘dream home’. The pandemic has helped families savings increase with little to spend wages on and thus a surge in conveyancing transactions.
