Whitehall officials have said that the wide-reaching reform to divorce law will not come into effect this autumn as was intended. The Ministry of Justice has cited ‘technical issues’ as the reason for the delay.

The Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act was passed over a year ago but had been delayed due to covid. This further delay means the target to implement the new no-fault divorce is April 2022.

This law, once implemented will remove unreasonable behavior and adultery from the statute books.
