In a bid to boost the very low conviction rates in rape cases, victims will now give evidence on video prior to the trial.
The plans led by Justice Secretary Robert Buckland and Home Secretary Priti Patel will be unveiled next month. The aim to prevent survivors of sexual violence from the trauma of having to appear in court.
This is after conviction rates fell to an all time low after in 2019/20 only 1439 alleged rapists were convicted of rape or lesser offences a 25% decrease from the previous year.
