Non-Molestation Orders

Paul Dodds Law is a safe space where the victims and survivors of domestic abuse can obtain the assistance that they need.

If you're a victim or survivor of domestic abuse and want to act to prevent that abuse continuing or happening again then we are able to help you.

Domestic abuse can take many forms.

Some kinds of domestic abuse are: Physical violence, for example slapping, pushing, kicking or  punching, damage to property or items of value as well as more serious violent assault; Economic abuse such as stealing, depriving or taking money, running up debt, withholding benefit books or bank cards; Sexual violence such as  any non-consensual sexual activity including rape, indecent assault or coercing another person into sexual activity; Restricting freedom such as controlling who the abused person sees and where they go and where or what they do or stalking the abused.

If you are a victim or survivor of domestic abuse then it is possible to apply to the court for an order to prevent the abuse continuing.  This is called a non-molestation order and forbids the abuser from using or threatening violence against the victim of abuse or their children or from pestering, intimidating or harassing them.  It also prevents them from encouraging anyone else to do so on their behalf.  Your abuser might, for example, have been attending your home and verbally abusing you.  A non-molestation order would stop this from happening.  Once you a non-molestation order the police can arrest your abuser and he or she may be sent to prison.

If you contact us for urgent help in securing a non-molestation order against your abuser then we will do our very best to see you that same day.  We are determined to ensure that anyone who contacts us for help with domestic abuse will receive the assistance that they need as a matter of priority.

Legal aid is usually available for the victims and survivors of domestic abuse who want to take action against their abuser so our assistance is likely to be free of charge.

I met Mr Dodds at a very difficult time in my life. He helped to turn around a case that I felt I was losing with a previous solicitor.

More than anything he helped me to trust. He is meticulous in his work and due to his professionalism I was able to feel confident at court along side him. Together we won and I am so thankful to him and the fate that led me to him.
