Family lawyers have united to strive for diversity in the selection of the judge who presides over private FDR hearings.

The judge chosen is usually barrister and despite the fact that almost half of junior barristers are female the Judge almost always ends up being male. The movement for change is being spearheaded by Kate Landells, a partner in the divorce and family team at Withers and other leading family lawyers have followed suit to improve diversity.

There will be a meeting to re-convene the issue in a few months to see if any progress has been made.
